Web Development 2018 : Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS)
Often we assume a complex bug needs to have a complex solution but actually the simplest solutions are just as effective. Web development and programming has seen a great trend in simplifying our software into micro components.
We can isolate services in Docker containers, run small and repeatable processes on serverless technology and we are encouraged to switch to a smaller micro frameworks.
Of course this trend is certainly not a new buzz in programming. the Unix philosophy is all about doing one thing and one thing well.
This minimalist approach can also be used when tackling legacy web applications. When investigating a root cause we make the issue smaller as we are remove the noise of the rest of the system and this allows us web developers to keep it simple stupid (KISS).
The phase Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) is a design principle which was coined by the US navy in 1960.
Most systems work best if they are kept simple instead of over complicated. Which means that software simplicity should be a key goal when designing a system and unnecessary complexity should be identified and removed.
